PlayOver for iPhone

Share any song to any platform, right from the iOS Share Sheet. No more sending links that your friends can't open. And now it hosts parties: guests add songs from their own music app, and PlayOver plays them.

Share from anywhere on your iPhone.

PlayOver lives in the iOS Share Sheet, so it's right there anywhere you can tap Share — Safari, Discord, your music apps, and beyond. Pick PlayOver and you get one link that opens on whatever platform each person uses. iMessage is the exception: a song arrives as a preview card with no Share button, so press and hold it, tap Copy, and open PlayOver instead.

One universal link, copied and ready to send — it opens on each person's own platform. If they have PlayOver, it opens instantly in the one they prefer.

Host a party from your iPhone.

Start a party and PlayOver becomes the DJ. Guests scan the QR code or open the link, with no app and no account, and add songs from whatever music app they use: search for a song, or paste a link from Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal and more. Every request lands in one queue with the name of whoever added it. Your own playlist keeps playing until requests come in, and requests start at the next song, so nothing gets cut off.

House Rules

Choose whether guests can vote to skip and how many votes it takes, whether explicit songs are allowed, and how many songs each guest can request. Change them during the party and every guest's screen updates.

Listen Along, Anywhere

Friends in different places? Start a listen-along: everyone hears the same song at the same time, each from their own Apple Music or Spotify. Nudge your audio a little early or late, or pause just for yourself. Or share a listen-only pass so people can listen in their browser without adding songs.

📝

The Recap

When the party ends, everyone gets the recap: every requested song that played, with who added it, openable in their own music app.

📺

Also on Apple TV

PlayOver on Apple TV hosts parties on the big screen: the QR code, the guests and the queue, with every request showing who added it. It plays through Apple Music and is for hosting only. It runs standard house rules (vote to skip at two votes, explicit songs allowed, no limit per guest), there's no Spotify, and the recap isn't shown on the TV. Its host name starts as "Apple TV", and you can change it before you start.

What hosting needs. With Apple Music, an Apple Music subscription: PlayOver plays the songs itself. With Spotify, Spotify Premium and the Spotify app, plus a one-time setup of about three minutes that PlayOver walks you through. Keep PlayOver open while hosting on Spotify, because new requests wait while it's in the background. Party Mode works on iPad too. Got a code from a friend? Common questions.

How do I convert a music link?
Tap the share button in any streaming app — Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and others — then select PlayOver from the Share Sheet. PlayOver will instantly find and open the song on your preferred platform. You can also paste a link directly into PlayOver from your clipboard.
Which streaming services are supported?
PlayOver supports Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and Deezer — both as sources and destinations — plus Pandora, Boomplay, and Anghami as destinations. That covers the vast majority of music listeners worldwide.
How do I set my preferred platform?
Open PlayOver and tap the platform you want as your default. A checkmark appears to confirm. From that point on, any link you convert will automatically open on that platform. You can change your preference any time by tapping a different service in the app.
Does PlayOver need to be open to work?
No. PlayOver works through the iOS Share Sheet extension, which runs in the background. You don't need the PlayOver app to be open — just tap Share in any music app and choose PlayOver from the menu.
What if a song isn't available on my platform?
PlayOver uses multiple fallback methods to locate the song. If a direct match can't be found on your preferred platform, PlayOver will show all available options and let you choose. In rare cases, a very new or regional release might not be found — PlayOver will let you know if that happens.
Why isn't PlayOver appearing in my Share Sheet?
First, make sure you've opened PlayOver at least once after installing it — iOS requires this to register Share Sheet extensions. When you tap Share, iOS shows a row of apps; if PlayOver isn't there yet, scroll that row all the way to the right and tap More to find it in the full list. After you use PlayOver a few times this way, iOS learns to surface it automatically, and it'll show up directly in the Share Sheet without needing to scroll to More.
How does Party Mode work on iPhone?
Start a party in the Party tab and PlayOver plays every request through your Apple Music or Spotify. Guests scan the QR code or open the party link, with no app and no account, and add songs by searching or pasting a link from whatever music app they use. Your own playlist plays between requests, and requests start at the next song. You set the house rules: skip votes, explicit songs, and how many songs each guest can request. When the party ends, everyone can open the recap of the requests that played. More about Party Mode.
What do I need to host a party on iPhone?

What iOS version does PlayOver require?
PlayOver requires iOS 17.6 or later. It works on any iPhone that can run iOS 17.6 or newer.
