Get PlayOver on your stream in four steps

Install the helper on your streaming PC, sign in with Twitch, add the overlay, and go live. No music-service login, no coding, nothing to wire up.

Install the Windows helper

On the PlayOver for Twitch page, click Download the Windows Helper and run the installer. The helper is a small app that lives in your system tray and reads the music playing on your PC.

If Windows shows a SmartScreen warning, click More info → Run anyway. That's normal for newer apps and simply means Windows hasn't seen enough installs yet.

Where it lives: after install, PlayOver runs quietly in your system tray (the little icons by the clock). It doesn't open a big window unless you click it.

Sign in with Twitch

Open the helper and click Sign in with Twitch. A Twitch page opens in your browser where you authorize PlayOver — this links the helper to your channel so the overlay knows where to show songs and your reports stay scoped to you.

You only do this once. You never sign in to Spotify, Apple Music, or any music service — PlayOver reads what's already playing on your PC.

Privacy: the helper only reads recognized music apps (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and more). It ignores your browser and everything else, so a video or stream you have open is never shared.

Add the overlay to your channel

In your Twitch Creator Dashboard, go to Extensions, find PlayOver, and click Install. Then open My Extensions, click Activate on PlayOver, and choose a video overlay slot.

That's it for Twitch — the current song now appears on top of your stream whenever the helper is running and music is playing.

Go live and play music

Start your stream and play music like you normally would. The current song appears on your overlay, and every viewer can open it on their own platform, send it to their phone, or save it on Apple Music.

Want to see your numbers? Open the helper from your system tray and click View your reports — songs opened, songs saved, where your audience listens, and your top tracks.

🖥️ Streaming on OBS, Kick, or YouTube Live?

Instead of the Twitch extension in step 3, open the helper and copy your Browser source overlay URL. In OBS, add a new Browser source and paste it in. The same "Get this song" overlay then works on Kick, YouTube Live, or anywhere that accepts a browser source. To position it before you go live, add &preview=1 to the URL — it shows a placeholder card you can drag into place, then remove it for the real stream.
